[Bada Akintunde] Zlatan Ibrahimovic set for best season ever

youareyoungdarling.blogspot.com - When Zlatan Ibrahimovic sent a blistering left-footed shot into the top corner of the Bayer Leverkusen net after 42 minutes of Tuesday's last-16 first leg, it was a strike that effectively secured Paris Saint-Germain’s place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic set for best season ever

The 32-year-old may be getting on in years from a footballing perspective, but his form is certainly not depreciating and he is now set to smash his personal best in terms of goals at club level.

Ibrahimovic has now scored 38 goals in 39 games across all competitions in all competitions, only just falling shy of Cristiano Ronaldo's leading total.

The mercurial striker's sparkling form Sweden has sparked an argument in the footballing world, is he the world's best striker on current form or not?

Calling him 'the best' wouldn't be an overstatement but calling him 'one of the best' would mean undermining all the goals he's scored, the quality, and the quantity.

Yes, there’s the likes of Gareth Bale, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, all wonderful goalscorers at the present time, but they’re not really classical strikers in the same mould as Ibra, more all round forwards who can play all over the park with the ability to finish as an added extra.

Ibra in terms of being a classical centre forward is in a league of his own, stratosphere's ahead of the rest, with only Radamel Falcao and Robert Lewandowski coming closest to him and challenging him as the best out-and-out striker in world football.

Ibrahimovic has had a lot of problems at his previous clubs due to attitude, with many ex-footballer's going on to say that he is the most arrogant player to have ever played the game of football.

But haven't we heard that attitude at the right place and at the right time can bring oodles of success? That is exactly the case with the Swede.

Although he is extremely proud of himself, he has actions and many goals on-field to back-up each
and every word spoken by him off the pitch.

For instance, he recently stated in an interview that he doesn't have a "weaker foot". Many people would have thought that he's being plain stupid and foolish and they would have been correct, only if Zlatan wouldn't have scored that mind-boggling left footed net-buster against Leverkusen on Tuesday night. That's the beauty of Zlatan.

It is sad that his talent cannot bring success to his own country ,as Sweden failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup despite Zlatan putting up an inspirational performance against Portugal in a play-off.

The football extravaganza in Brazil will surely miss Ibrahimovic and his stunning goals. This would have surely been the Swede's last World-Cup had his nation qualified for it.

With age dawning quickly upon the iconic Swede he will be looking to achieve all he can at club level, accompanied with some fantastic goals with that contain a healthy dose of 'Ibracadabra' magic in them!
